AC runs but won't cool

Nine times out of ten in Reno: a weak capacitor, low refrigerant from a slow leak, or a coil that's given up breathing through dust.

Reno note: in summer we hold same-day slots for no-cool calls, mornings go first.

The All Hours standard

Why our systems survive Reno

The desert kills lazy HVAC work. Here's what we do differently, in plain words, no jargon.

01

Real load calculation, every install

Manual J math on your actual house, orientation, windows, insulation. Oversized units short-cycle and die young; right-sized ones just work.

02

Coils cleaned, not just glanced at

Reno dust cakes condenser coils into insulation. We wash them properly at every tune-up, it's worth up to 20% capacity in July.

03

Static pressure measured

We test airflow like a doctor takes blood pressure, most "weak AC" is actually strangled ductwork, and we prove it with numbers.

04

Drain lines cleared before monsoon

The humid weeks flood ceilings through clogged condensate lines. Ours get flushed and treated at every visit.

05

Repair-vs-replace, shown in math

Age × repair cost × efficiency, on one sheet. If the honest answer is "repair it and run", that's what we'll tell you.

Homeowner guides

Know your comfort system before peak season.

Short, honest answers to the questions every homeowner asks, no jargon, no upsell.

How often do filters really need changing?

When they are dirty, which depends on pets, dust and runtime more than on the calendar. A starved filter chokes airflow, freezes coils in summer and overheats furnaces in winter.

Check monthly at first, learn your home's rhythm, and buy the best filter your system can still breathe through, denser is not automatically better.

Why is one room always the wrong temperature?

Because air follows ducts, not wishes. Long runs, missing returns, crushed flex duct or a damper someone closed years ago starve the far rooms first.

Balancing, sealing and sometimes one added return fix more comfort complaints than new equipment ever does.

What does a tune-up actually do?

It moves failures from midnight to the appointment book. Capacitors, igniters, drains and charge get tested while the weather is kind, small parts get replaced before they strand the big ones.

The payoff is quiet, fewer emergencies, better efficiency and equipment that reaches old age instead of retiring early.

Where we work

The Valley's keep-your-cool crew

On Camelback. Most of our summer calls come from a neighbor whose house we already saved from a July meltdown, we earn that with same-day trucks and prices that don't melt either.

Questions, answered

My AC died in July, how fast can you really come?+
Same day for no-cool calls in summer, usually within hours, we hold morning slots exactly for this, and homes with seniors or babies jump the line. Call rather than book online when it's urgent.
How often does an AC need service in Reno?+
Twice a year here, a spring cooling tune-up and a fall heating check. Desert dust and 4,000+ run-hours a year are brutal; the tune-up is where July breakdowns get caught in April.
Repair or replace, how do I know you're being honest?+
We show you the math on one sheet: age, repair cost, efficiency gap. Under the industry's 50% rule we repair without drama. Our techs aren't paid commission on replacements, that's deliberate.
What does a new AC actually cost?+
Replacement pricing depends on system size and efficiency. You get a fixed written quote with options side by side, never a "starting at" surprise.
Why is one room always hotter than the rest?+
Usually ductwork, not the AC, leaks, kinks or bad balance. We measure static pressure and room-by-room airflow, then fix the actual restriction. It's often a few hundred dollars, not a new system.
Which filter should I use, and how often?+
Monthly in summer, every 2–3 months otherwise, dust season is real. A quality pleated MERV 8–11 suits most homes; go higher only if your blower can handle it (we'll tell you at the tune-up).
What's covered by your warranty?+
Two years on our workmanship in writing, plus full manufacturer warranties on equipment (typically years on parts when registered, we handle the registration so you don't lose it).

Beat the heat before it beats you.
